Flash memory to use with ESD and BT816
« on: October 06, 2022, 02:31:39 PM »

Is it possible to use W25Q512JVFIQ flash for the QSPI flash attached to the BT816 QSPI master interface with an ESD project? I don't see the option for W25Q512 in the Flash settings. Do we need to use a different flash chip if we want 512Mbit flash with an ESD project?

Hello Louis,

The support of flash is defined in the 'unified.blob' file which comes included as part of the ESD toolchain download.
There is currently only one 'unified.blob' file in ESD. The unified.blob is programmed into the first sector of the targeted flash chip.

The flash drop-down list within ESD contains each of the flash chips that have been tested, but is not comprehensive enough to cover every flash chip that is supported.
The W25Q512JVFIQ has not yet been tested but it is very likely to work as it is part of W25Q series.

The unified.blob is located at:  ($INSTALLATION PATH)\Settings\BT815 or :  ($INSTALLATION PATH)\Settings\BT817.
For BT816, it falls the category of BT815.
